We have to learn to accept it, and i have, but as the world is changing, i have decided to change a little too.
Having the best shtf gear is useless if you have ineffective weapons, scavengers will just take them by force. So we tagged shtf weapons as a priority item in this list. Depending on your comfort and legal restrictions, this could range from pepper spray to a survival knife or a firearm. A gun is one of the most effective self-defense weapons, even during non-shtf scenarios. So if you already have one in your edc kit, good for you! guns will efficiently defend you from attackers and allow you to maintain a safer distance. Firearms are a common choice for self-defense and hunting in a survival scenario.
Survival knives, such as the morakniv companion, are necessary equipment when you're out in the wild given that you can use them to slice or prepare food , hunt for food, open canned items, repair things, cut ropes and other m aterials for shelter, along with protect you from assaulters. For us, having clean guaranteed sources of clean water jumps out at us as a rule that requires prepping, while also being a likely downfall common among non-preppers. Acetaminophen , ibuprofen , and aspirin will all be necessary for reducing the pain that comes with disaster-related injuries. Don’t forget about tooth pain! i’ve talked to many war and disaster survivors, and one thing they mention is that dental hygiene usually goes to hell in shtf situations. Tooth pain is hellish. Those of you who take prescription meds always ensure you have enough of a supply at all times, especially if you’re taking medicine to treat life-threatening issues. If possible, start refilling the prescriptions early whenever you can, instead of refilling them when they’re almost done. If the medicine you take needs to be refrigerated, start thinking about alternative energy sources. In an shtf situation, you might not be able to get a doctor that can give you antibiotics. We aren’t medical doctors here and don’t recommend this, but most preppers suggest using fish antibiotics to treat certain illnesses and infections.
